Kama Sokolnicka’s practice is based in montage as an conceptual process. It stands in for the movement of thoughts. Observing what happens between the transmitter and receptor, her works can be uplifting remarks on imperfection, and layperson’s mistakes in reading, listening and understanding. She pays attention to the austerity of things and language. This approach sets the tone for her characteristic use of materials and formal reduction. Her works vary in form from drawing, collage, painting, object, sculpture, to site-specific installations.

She has participated in numerous international solo and group exhibitions. She received a Stipend of Wrocław City Major in 2021 and was a stipendist of Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2011 and of their program „Kultura w sieci” 2020. She was also awarded by artist-in-residency programs, i.e. SomoS Berlin (DE, 2017), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (DE, 2016), Civitella Ranieri (IT, 2015), Art OMI (USA, 2013), La Malterie (FR, 2013).

Kama Sokolnicka is active also in the field of book design and other printed matter. She was teaching on Art Academy in Szczecin (2018-19), currently she is a visiting lecturer on HAW in Hamburg.
