The environment prepared for Radio, That Listens project in BGSW, Słupsk, 2024

A spatious installation—dedicated for the listening refers to DIY recording rooms (often bedrooms) and techniques—is built with simple, basic materials of acoustic qualities like woolen felt, natural textiles and wood, that make the room sound more chamber.
Excerpt from the text accomanying the exhibition: “More than an exhibition, Radio that Listens is a social space. Making use of the architecture of the Tower and the water nearby we wish to create a situation in which the diverse dimensions of sound and listening practices can be experienced together. How do they affect our perception of the surroundings and ourselves? Such an acoustic space turns voices into architects of alternative dimensions, challenging the automatism of thought and the uncritical habit of taking what can be seen for granted.”

Imagine radio that instead of numbing us to the sounds, strengthens our imagination and creativity; instead of manipulating us into faster work and more buying, inspires us to invent; instead of fatiguing us, refreshes our acoustic sensitivity; instead of making us ignore thoughts and surroundings, stimulates listening; instead of broadcasting the same things again and again, does not repeat; instead of silencing us, encourages us to sing, to speak, and make radio ourselves; instead of merely broadcasting at us, lets us listen through it.
