Archive After Hand

a group show summarizing a research
project by Agnieszka Grodzińska

Galeria Miejska Arsenał, Poznań (PL)
2024

Archive After Hand is an exhibition summarizing a project dedicated to studying the archiving processes of female artists. Agnieszka Grodzińska traced the systems used by creators associated with the Fluxus movement as well as contemporary artists invited to the project. In the process of exploring neighbouring archives (Archiwum Idei in Poznań and Archivio Conz in Berlin), the most intriguing clues emerge in yet-undescribed items or non-obvious objects found there. Surprising parallels in creative processes, thought constructs, or idea-forming materials engage in dialogue with contemporary approaches to the classification of art. Artefacts simultaneously escape systematisation, wandering through cases of partially recognised or dispersed identities and artistic mythologies.
