Smoke Becomes Dust

realised in the Walnut Hall in the Imperial Castle, Poznań

When smoke morphs into settling dust, it loses its ability to diffuse, spread freely, and penetrate crevices. Dust does not have such power unless you stir it up with a gust of air. The work is a reconstruction of a photograph of the British band Dome, delivering an ironic commentary on the aesthetics of power. The poses of the figures verge on pastiche; they appear to combine opposing registers, hovering between the comedy of phallic forms and the hegemony of the shadow cast by the establishment.
